Abstract
This paper will focus on the issue of legal and safe entry channels to European territory, beginning with the adoption of the European New Pact on Migration and Asylum presented in September 2020. It will analyse in particular the Commission’s proposal for a common European framework for resettlement, and the attempts of the European Parliament to regulate at European level the issuing of visas that allow people in need of protection to enter Europe safely and legally. Reference will also be made to the protected entry procedures set up by individual member States.
