Abstract

The paper investigates the variety of human resource management models in Italian micro and small enterprises. Then, new strategic trajectories in staff recruitment and training are explored. Research findings highlight that the technological and organizational challenges, accelerated by COVID-19 pandemic, are leading small entrepreneurs to adopt employee management practices more formalized and structured than in the past, useful for small firms to deal with the economic downturn begun in 2020
