Abstract
Massimo Fusillo has long occupied himself with the survival of myth in con¬temporary culture, following a comparative approach whose relevant outcomes are here discussed through a dialogue with Federico Condello. Starting with the transpositions and rewritings of Euripides' "The Bacchae" the debate extends to essential questions such as the persistance of the myth and the multiple means of rebirth of Dionysianism in postmodernism. Brought into play here is the very possibility of comparison, its admissibility or inadmissability, the problematic singling-out of a "bundle of constants", of homologies which lead to differen¬tiation: in brief, the article discusses the definition of the relationship between continuity and discontinuity in the history of culture.
