Abstract

This article is aimed at exploring the transformations of gender representations in the labor market triggered by the network of activists who are currently making a stand against work and social precarity in Italy. Through the analysis of several symbolic artifacts (texts, images, performances) produced by this network of activists, then, the article aims to illustrate how the transformation of political activism practices (in particular the shift from traditional union representations to new ways of «self-representation») has contributed to the emergence of the symbolic gender order as a backdrop to both working relationship and the narration of new social identities and shed light on the relationship between individual and collective subjectivities, work and not work, masculinity and femininity.
