Abstract
This article looks at Naoki Sakai's concepts of homolingual and heterolingual address in relation to the interconnection between translation, the problematic of the border and bordering, and subjectivity. It does so by discussing a number of theorists who have written about these issues from various disciplinary and interdisciplinary perspectives - including Gayatri Spivak, Emily Apter, Sandro Mezzadra and Brett Neilson - as well as NoViolet Bulawayo's migration novel "We Need New Names". Its aim is to contribute to current debates about the politics of translation.
