Abstract
For the Middle East, China is primarily an economic partner, whose importance is extraordinarily growing. However, this article will argue that China is also becoming a political model for the Middle East, contributing to strengthening the traditional autocratic features of the Arab state. To sum up, the Chinese model seems to suggest that Arab countries can successfully integrate into the world economy without democratising their political systems.
