Abstract
The Chinese Communist party has been investing 50% of its GDP since 2005 - an unprecedented investment level for countries in the East. Private consumption is compressed by substantial infrastructural investments. According to some data Chinese productivity has been slowing down since the early 1990s. Today's key issue is the end of China's wheat self-sufficiency.
