Abstract
What is the relationship between language and culture? Do languages influence our perceptions of the world? And in a society where everything is translated, what do we know about the difficult mediation between different languages? We will discuss it with two translators - working with Mandarin, Italian and English - and with one linguist who has studied Australian Aboriginal languages for the last 40 years. In his words we will have a practical example of Indigenous languages - and cultures - that shape thoughts in a quite different way from the Western world.
