Abstract
Landgrabbing is now a worldwide phenomenon and involves not only developing countries, but also Europe. Big multinational companies are searching for land to develop a more efficient agriculture and for the new and promising biofuel and solar business. Especially in the Eastern European countries (Hungary, Poland, Bulgaria and Romania), smallholder farmers are close to bankruptcy and a new group of investors has succeeded in capturing vast tracts of land.
