Abstract

There is not only one Mediterranean Sea. Every continent has its own, from the Gulf of Mexico to the Sino-Malaysian basin. Geopolitical and economic relations flourish in these areas that experienced globalization long before it spread worldwide. The African Mediterranean territory is different from that of continental Europe. In the African Mediterranean, most main towns are not located along the coast. As a result of the crisis of the centralized territorial state, the current planetary processes increasingly resemble the Mediterranean model.
