Urban Inequality and Poverty in the Global South
Abstract
The rapid urbanization characterized by poor infrastructure, sprawl, slums and other informal settlements are common features of cities of the Global South. Equally significant of Global South cities are the imprints of global capital manifesting in the emergence of gated communities, shoping malls etc. This reveals the physical and social manifestation of inequality and poverty alongside wealth. At the core, urban inequality and poverty are poor urban governance systems.
