Abstract

The article presents for the first time the transcription of the notes of the lecture that the Italian philosopher of science Ludovico Geymonat gave at the Centro di studi metodologici in Turin on the topic of the two cultures on 13 November 1964. The document is preserved at the Museo civico di storia naturale in Milan and is intended to add a piece to the reconstruction of the Italian debate on the two cultures in the early 1960s, at the same time enhancing the archival materials of the Fondo Geymonat and other Italian archives. At the intersection of science, philosophy, politics, education, publishing and society, the discussion developed following the publication of the Italian translation for the publisher Feltrinelli of the book by the physicist and novelist Charles P. Snow, which included an introduction by Geymonat himself.
