Abstract

This short note discusses the persistence over time of some features of the Italian education system, arguing that the economic analysis of the current system and the hystorical analysis of its past may cross fertilize each other. It also emphasizes the possible uses of hystorical geo-referentiated data (and related maps) as possible tools enabling to better identify the causal effects of relevant aspects and policies.
