Abstract
To reconstruct the history of Rotary in Italy, it is impossible to ignore the political situation in which the Association begins to take its first steps; its birth coincides with the advent of Fascism which had assumed power in 1922. The first Rotary Club was born in Milan in 1923. The institutional history of Rotary is intertwined with the more general history of society during the Twentieth century, until its dissolution in 1938 and the subsequent reconstitution after World War II.
