Abstract
The Administration for International Aids (AAI) represented a unique example of social intervention that tried to combine some characteristics of the public administration with the freedom of action which is generally more typical of the private sector. The AAI was active in different areas, such as, but not limited to, the organization of summer camps or the support of local schools. This article tries to understand how such an organization survived for thirty years in the Italian administration
