Abstract
The Catholic Church of Santiago sponsored an action to denounce the crimes committed by the Chilean military regime (1973-1990). In doing so, it contributed to the recognition of the historical truth on the matter, as also certified by the National Commission on the Truth and Reconciliation (Comisión Nacional de Verdad y Reconciliación), which was established by Chilean government in the post-dictatorship period to ascertain the truth about the human rights violations perpetrated in that period.
