Abstract

This paper traces the history and the methodological approach of the Italian «Census of Home Movie Collections» project, promoted by the Central Institute for Archives (Istituto Centrale per gli Archivi-ICAR; Ministry of Culture-MiC) and realized by the author of this paper between 2017 and 2020. The project developed an understanding of the archival context of amateur film heritage through the investigation of several amateur film collections contained in three Italian regional archives and filming (shooting period: 1927-1991).
