Abstract
The aim of this article is to describe the rootedness of the concept of sovereignty in the Ottoman Empire, trying to offer food for thought that allows us on the one hand to look at the past of this historical experience with an eye simultaneously to the present and to the future, on the other hand, to deal with Western institutional models
