Abstract
The essay explores the relationship between nuclear policy, media industry and public opinion in 1950s Italy through the lens of «La Settimana Incom» newsreels. This case study highlights the process via which government, the energy production industry and the media set about educating Italian society on the nuclear issue to suit their own purposes. Bridging the cultural, political and economic dimensions of that issue, the article tries to discover the different players in the nuclear field and their actions. The research also analyses the narrative approach adopted by these newsreels and the importance of images in shaping public opinion.
