Abstract
The essay provides an original interpretation of the matrices and development of the New Left in Western Europe in the 1960s. Through the untold story of the «Revue Internationale du Socialisme – International Socialist Journal» and its broad network of transnational relations, it highlights the role played by European left-wing socialism in the formation of a New Political Left. It reconstructs the attempt by the New Socialist Left to resuscitate the theoretical heritage of Marxism and stand as a political project alternative to the social democratic and communist models.
