Abstract

In the literature on the history of the Italian judiciary during the Republican period, the 12th national congress held by the Italian National Association of Judges at Gardone Riviera on 25-28 September 1965 is commonly seen as a milestone in the historical development of the Italian judiciary as an institution, especially from the ideological and cultural point of view. Despite this, the congress has never been subjected to specific historiographic research. This article examines the main events that characterized the congress, emphasizing the contrasts between the different factions within the institution and evaluating the significance of the congress in the history of the Italian judiciary.
