Abstract

Between 2009 and 2021, French historians showed great interest in the history of contemporary Italy. In general, political history predominates, though integrating analysis of social and cultural aspects in a renewed perspective. Some periods have received greater attention than others: the ways in which the process of national construction was carried out, the twenty-year Fascist period, and the history of republican Italy, with particular focus on forms of government and the ’years of lead’. Other topics attracting the interest of researchers include: studies on intellectuals or sport, relations between Italy and the Mediterranean area, migration studies.
