Abstract
The aim of this essay is to explain Bacon's opinion on Telesio. According to Bacon, Telesio was the restorer of Parmenides' philosophy and, at the same time, the first of the moderns: these statements are not in the least contradictory. It is possible to understand the meaning of these and other judgements if we consider Bacon's views on the philosophies of the past and on history and time.
