Abstract
The historical research completed by Reinhard Brandt and Werner Stark in volume XXV of the Academy edition of Kant's works led to a reconsideration of the relations of Kant's "Vorlesung über Anthropologie" to the critical ideas and principles. Kant's account of character may be seen as his particular way of taking up the question of the possible relation of reason and sensibility, and of human nature and human culture.
