Abstract

Some considerations are put forward on the book "Attualità dell'Illuminismo", a collection of essays previously published on the newspaper "La Repubblica". Most of the contributions do not show a good knowledge of the (recent) specialistic research on the Enlightenment and the 18th century. That may be connected to a more general attitude of the Italian culture, which has never been very sympathetic to the Enlightenment itself.
