Abstract

Antonella Besussi and Stefano Petrucciani discuss Salvatore Veca’s Qualcosa di sinistra. Idee per una politica progressista. Besussi analyses Veca’s minimalist account of the concept of «Left wing» which she ties to the idea of an essential contestability characterizing «Left wing» as a political concept. Petrucciani examines Veca’s thesis about the connection between «freedom» and «social justice» against the background of liberal political tradition, and he considers the consequences Veca’s view have for Left wing’s political agenda and for the philosophical interrogation on the need for a global social contract.
