Abstract
The essay reviews Gino Giugni’s book, edited by Silvana Sciarra, Idee per il lavoro (Bari, Laterza, 2020), and analyzes the thought of one of the most important scholars in Labour law after the Second World War. First of all, the author focuses on Giugni’s scientific method, pointing out how Giugni tried to abandon the traditional dogmatic method of Civil Law, opening Labour Law to the contribution of Sociology, Economics and comparative studies. Then the essay examines Giugni’s role as a politician and finally, the article highlights the main Labour Law ideas expressed by Giugni, such as the concept of Trade Unions and Employers Associations System, the role of collective agreements, the role of the law and finally the function and the purposes of Labour Law.
