Abstract

This paper aims to consider the conception of moral education that emerges in the ethics of care, which will be analyzed through the lens of some Wittgensteinian lines of ethics, particularly Stanley Cavell’s moral perfectionism. The article offers a critical reading of the conception of moral education characteristic of one line of care ethics represented by Nel Noddings and proposes a perfectionist interpretation of care ethics in Carol Gilligan’s recent works, which shows a transformative conception of moral education.
