Abstract
Gianni Vattimo’s philosophical work is marked by an increasing interest in political issues. This contributes to his figure as an intellectual who takes part in the public debate. At the same time, politics begins to play a role in the way Vattimo defines philosophy itself. This essay examines the political vocation of Vattimo’s thought from his early years to his last works. An interpretative key is proposed that considers Vattimo’s philosophy as a form of political ontology – a model in which reflection on being is, at the same time, a perspective on political action and vice versa.
