Abstract
Adriano Fabris, Giuseppe Riconda and Federico Vercellone discuss Sergio Givone's "Metafisica della peste" ("Metaphysics of Plague"). The authors present the book's main theses and critically analyze them. In particular, the concept of plague as a metaphor of metaphysical evil is examined. Fabris focuses on the interplay between destiny and responsibility in connection with the traditional notion of guilt. Riconda retraces Givone's analysis of narrative as the medium through which the metaphor of evil takes shape. Vercellone emphasizes the aesthetical implications of the shift from metaphysics to narrative.
