Abstract
The article comments on some significant events on issues related to bioethics and civil morality occurred in the last decade in Italy, taking as the point of departure the referendum held in 2005 asking to abolish the 2004 law on assisted reproduction. The author suggests a critical perspective in order to evaluate the progress occurred and spells it out in terms of the dissolution of the traditional framework of natural law and of the gradual democratization of human life.
