Abstract
Lucio Cortella and Roberto Frega discuss Alex Honneth's "Freedom's Right", recently translated into Italian. Cortella engages Honneth's Hegelian method of «normative reconstructions», which is depicted as free from metaphysical bounds and distant from any constructivist project of Kantian/Habermasian blend, showing its rootedness in the social institution of recognition. Frega investigates instead Honneth's relationship with pragmatism, presenting his latest work as a fine completion of the pragmatization of Critical Theory originally begun by Habermas.
