Abstract
This paper aims to link, from a legal-historical perspective, the discourse on Italian fascist corporatism with both the literature on the liberal State crisis and the theorization of totalitarian State. The main focus will be placed on the different theoretical frameworks about labour, in its individual and collective aspects. Finally, the paper seeks to clarify the role played by the categories of «self-government» and «producer» in realizing the Fascist State’s totalitarian vocation.
