Abstract
The essay analyzes the philosophical relationship between George Bataille and Simone Weil, their positions on the theme of 'community'. According to the author, such relationship makes visible a thread of continuity which connects the two philosophers' otherwise radically divergent paths of thought. Both Bataille and Weil seem to develop similar views in focusing on 'the common' as passion which exceeds the individual need for self-preservation.
