Abstract

The essay analyzes the meaning of the right of resistance in the scholarly and handbook production of German late XVIII century natural law. The inquiry highlights the ways in which the right of resistance loses its political meaning bound to the Estates society and appears as logically incompatible with the foundation of sovereign power theorized by the "Staatsrecht".
