Abstract
After a brief mapping of the debate regarding the scientific enterprise of the "Begriffsgeschichte", the essay analyzes the Italian reception of that intellectual project, highlighting continuities and discontinuities between the Italian reading and the German hermeneutical approach. Particular attention is given to the specificity of the Italian reading which emphasizes the discontinuity between the ancient lexicon of government and the modern lexicon of power.
