Abstract

The essay analyses the meaning of Spinoza's idea of «free necessity» through the notions of adequate causality and action. The output of this analysis casts light on the foundation of political life, and it provides the arguments to refuse the idea of a «subversive spinozism», thus bringing the author back to the classical liberalism to which he pertains.
