Abstract

The problem of the difference between man and the animal is crucial in order to define subjectivity. The essay follows the development of this issue in Jacques Derrida's late reflection, providing an insight into his last seminars, recently published in Italy. Reading the main texts of the history of political thought, Derrida's attempt was that of showing how problematic is the definition of the frontiers of the subject: politics - the human activity par excellence -, therefore, is always open to the «question of the living».
