Abstract
Politics cannot avoid the metaphysic question concerning its essential character. Having reviewed the answers to this question provided by Carl Schmitt, Dolf Sternberger and Nicole Loraux, the essay analyzes the notion of «metapolitics». This world could point out the metaphysical foundation of political theories - as Manfred Riedel does - but also something different which concerns the biopolitics of the spirit, as Erich Unger assumes.
