Abstract
The Spanish Empire is analyzed in the era of its maximum development, the age of Philip II, according to its structural features: dynastic and religious unity, presence of a pivotal region, subsystem configuration, relationship between political concentration and participation, hegemony in international relations. There are also other lines of research, concerning the internally complex spatiality of the imperial system as well as the symbolics of power.
