Abstract
The essay analyzes Canetti's work "Mass and Power", developing some elements of Hans Blumemberg's "theory of unconceptuality". The theory is applied especially with respect to Canetti's description of the mass, considered as an "absolute metaphor". The two main questions to which the author wants to answer are: what kind of relationship exists between anthropologically elementar phenomena and political realism; how and where to situate the notion of power and mass within a political reflection.
