Abstract
The article shows the relationship between the concept of Europe and the question of the role of the "German Nation" in Fichte's political philosophy. The role of Germany becomes crucial in consequence of the Prussian defeat in the battle of Jena (1806), and of the extension of the French Empire on whole Europe. Yet, the critical attitude toward the modern age, and against the colonial system controlled by the european States, continues throughout the whole philosophy of Fichte.
