Abstract
The author offers an analysis of Schmitt's essay on political theology. He devotes particular attention to his political elaboration of theological concepts and interprets the essay as a possible source of theoretical suggestions regarding the complexity of normative ethics. The main thesis is that the difficulties met by Schmitt over the theory of normative ethics are not different from those at the center of today's ethical and normative debate.
