Abstract

The essay compares the different ways of thinking contemporaneity and how they articulate the relationship between contemporaneity, conceptual history, political philosophy and the task of finding a politics for the present time. On the basis of a critical reading of the last book of Roberto Esposito ("Da fuori", Einaudi, 2016), the Author suggests that - when it is conceived of as a device that does not produce a political form and is not therefore exposed to the aporia that characterize the modern conceptuality - the category of government is apt to dismiss the paradigm of the representative State.
