Abstract
This essay is focused on the concept of obedience in Spinoza's political thought. As illustrated by the Turkish history, obedience may be based on fear and constriction, but with the example of the "Respublica Hebraeorum" Spinoza introduces a new model of obedience and political obligation. From this point of view, obedience may be considered not as a mere obligation, but as a spontaneous act.
