Abstract
The thesis of the article is that ordoliberal political philosophy represents the implicit ideology of the European Union and its governance mechanisms. Indeed, in the measures of economic policy promoted by the European authorities, the basic idea driving ordoliberalism shows through: to make of competition the first principle of social coordination by developing the institutional and regulatory framework necessary to ensure its proper functioning. According to the author, this happens through structural «reforms» that gradually dismantle state regulations, the faculties of intervention and the margins of discretion of the public administration, thus circumventing the game of forces that characterizes democracy.
