Abstract

The essay draws a map of the genealogical pathways of the term inequality in the modern, where it is articulated in different ways and with different political effects depending on the corresponding inverse on which it is stated. In relation to the universal of equality it is absorbed in the project of the modern state order with outcomes of exclusion (based on the formal-legal equality) or problem solving compromises between State and capital in the reformism of the welfare State; in relation to the «common», its violent matrix of appropriation and expropriation remains central. Articulating itself with the claim of differences – inequality becomes an indicator of the struggles against oppression and exploitation.
