Abstract
The essay describes the peculiarities of the Sienese vernacular between the 14th and 16th centuries based on a corpus established in the context of the ItalArt project, which republishes the documents collected in the anthology Documenti per la storia dell’arte senese (1854-1856) by Gaetano Milanesi. The investigation focuses on phonomorphological phenomena that deviate from the Florentine vernacular and are considered distinctive of Sienese: diphthongisation beyond the Florentine type; absence of anaphonesis; intertonic and posttonic ar nexus; etc
