Abstract
The paper examines aspects of the poetic syntax in Leopardi's Canti - polysyndeton and asyndeton, sentence structure and word order - in order to evaluate both their specific function and their distribution among the different phases of his poetic collection. This close reading once again reveals to what extent these phases differ from each other and how they are stylistically diverse, if not in opposition.
