Abstract
This note analyses a number of etymological hypotheses, according to which the word "buzzurro" is either a backformation from "buzzurrone", allotrope of "buggerone" 'sodomite', or is linked to northern Italian and Italian-Swiss forms as "brüzur", "brüsur" 'burn'.
